Aside Fornication, There Are Other Sins, Cleric Warns
THE General Overseer of the Bible Pattern Church, Lagos, Pastor Zacchaeus Ogunsanya has enjoined worshippers not to engage in activities that do not please God, saying this has prevented man from enjoying worthwhile union with God.
He said this while preaching on the divine solution to the problem of sin at the church’s five-day 2015 national confab with the theme: “Divine Answer,” which held at the church’s headquarters in Lagos, last week.
Said he: “Every believer needs to be very watchful because it is not only fornication, stealing and drunkenness that are sins. But every thought, word, action, desire and omission that is contrary to God’s will makes us unbelievers.”
Urging members to be prayerful, Ogunsanya said prayer is one of the ways to live above sin, adding that the programme’s theme reminds all that God has answers to all life’s questions, no matter the situation anyone finds him/herself. He assured the congregation of God’s intervention in their lives.
On corruption in the country, the General Overseer said, “most Nigerians are religious, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are godly. The issue is that most people, who establish churches today, do not do so for God’s sake, but for what they can get for themselves. So, when people come to them, they want to minister in a way that they will get what they want for themselves. And so, in many cases they will not tell the truth, as they also do not know the truth.”
Advising President Muhammadu Buhari on his effort to deal with corruption, the cleric said his administration should not give in to corruption, especially in their immediate environment. This way, he will tackle the scourge, which has eaten deep into the society.
Brother Fred Onojeta, who spoke on leadership, said: “You cannot be a leader unless you have been able to lead yourself. It is okay to be a pastor, who also owns a thriving business, and so, the tendency to tell my flock who are probably struggling to feed themselves to bring money all the time is reduced. This can only be possible, when people understand leadership strategies and principles that they can apply in their day-to-day living.
