The only thing the electorate can do to check the spectre of defection in the land is to recall any legislator who would not serve out his tenure on the platform he was elected. How can any responsible leader castigate a party on whose platform he came to prominence and be allowed to enjoy the benefits accruing therefrom? If any senator feels he can do without the party on whose platform he got elected, the honourable thing to do is resign from his post and offer himself for reelection on the party of his preference, instead of robbing Peter to pay Paul.
