Etiaba, Azubogu join Anambra guber race under PDP

Son of the first female governor in Nigeria, Emeka Etiaba, has joined November 6, 2021, gubernatorial race in Anambra State, with Chris Azubogu on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

While Etiaba is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Azubogu represents Nnewi North/Nnewi South/Ekwusigo in the House of Representatives.

Making his aspiration known before the State Executive Committee and 21 council chairmen at the party’s headquarters in Awka at the weekend, Azubogu vowed to succeed Governor Willie Obiano of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).

Promising to conduct council election after six months as governor, Azubogu also informed his audience that about seven PDP governors were his strong backers, advising the party to zone the ticket to Anambra South.

Declaring for the race yesterday, Etiaba promised to continue from where his mother, Virgy Etiaba, stopped as governor of the state in 2006.

He cautioned PDP against picking a candidate but to throw the ticket open and allow the best man for the job to emerge through the primary.

The state chairman of PDP, Ndubuisi Nwobu, promised that the party would provide a level-playing ground for all the aspirants to participate in the free, fair and transparent primary.

Nwobu revealed that the party had concluded all arrangements to instal an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) system in the Situation Room, from which all the aspirants would have the privilege to monitor the primary.
