Prices of petroleum products decreased in March

Prices of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), National Household Kerosene (kerosene), and Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) decreased by 3.03 per cent, 6.79 per cent and 1.65 per cent respectively in March 2018.

For example, average price for the refilling of a 5kg cylinder for cooking gas decreased by 3.03 per cent from N2,155.97 in February 2018 to N2090.97 64 March 2018.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in its current price watch for petroleum products, States with the highest average price for the refilling of a 5kg cylinder for cooking gas were Borno, N2487.50; Yobe, N2500.00; and Bauchi, N2400.00. States with the lowest average price for the refilling of a 5kg cylinder for cooking gas were Abuja, N1,760.00; Ebonyi, N1,870.00; and Ekiti, N1,895.00).

Similarly, average price for the refilling of a 12.5kg cylinder for cooking gas decreased by 1.84 per cent from N4,333.27 in February 2018 to N4253.73 in March 2018.

States with the highest average price for the refilling of a 12.5kg cylinder for cooking gas were Akwa Ibom, N4,650.00; Benue, N4,966.67; and Cross River, N4,730.00. States with the lowest average price for the refilling of a 12.5kg cylinder for cooking gas were Oyo, N3834.38; Lagos, N3768.00; and Bauchi, N3,400.00.

The bureau disclosed that the average price per litre paid by consumers for kerosene decreased by 6.79 per cent from N288.57 in February 2018 to N268.99 in March 2018.

States with the highest average price per litre of kerosene were Nasarawa, N306.07; Yobe, N300.78; and Cross River, N300.68.

States with the lowest average price per litre of kerosene were Abia, N229.35; Delta, N227.77; and Borno, N225.13.

Similarly, average price per gallon paid by consumers for kerosene decreased by 8.45 per cent from N1,030.33 in February 2018 to N943.27 in March 2018

States with the highest average price per gallon of kerosene were Kebbi, N1105.00; Benue, N1096.67; and Jigawa, N1061.90.

States with the lowest average price per gallon of kerosene were Ebonyi, N828.57; Delta, N821.54; and Rivers, N814.08.

Average price paid by consumers for diesel decreased by 1.65 per cent from N209.89 in February 2018 to N206.41 in March 2018.

States with the highest average price of diesel were Taraba, N254.29; Sokoto, N249.29; and Kebbi, N230.83.

States with the lowest average price of diesel were Abia, N185.83; Bayelsa, N187.50 and Delta N189.58.
