The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has assured Nigerians of effective distribution of petroleum products during and after the general elections across the hinterland of the country.

downloadThe Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has assured Nigerians of effective distribution of petroleum products during and after the general elections across the hinterland of the country.

Chairman, Western Zone of IPMAN, Alhaji Debo Ahmed, gave the assurance at the weekend during the inauguration of caretaker committee saddle to steer the affairs of the Ore Depot pending when proper election will hold.

According to Ahmed, following the expiration of the tenure of Ore Depot Executives and shift in general elections, the leadership of IPMAN has inaugurated a caretaker committee to ensure even distribution of products among members in the depot.

While administering the oath of office to the committee members, the Legal Adviser, IPMAN Western zone, Prince Doyin Ajidagba, urged them to discharge their duties without fear or favour but with just and equity to all members of the Ore Depot.
The setting up of a caretaker committee becomes imperative due to shift in date of elections originally slated for March 24th 2015.

According to the Zonal Chairman,  Ahmed, “IPMAN Western zone hereby constitutes a caretaker committee for Ore Depot to pilot the affairs of IPMAN Ore Depot for the next three months effective from Friday 13th March, 2015 at the first instance.

“The Zonal Executive Council took this decision on the grounds that the IPMAN Ore Depot election had earlier been fixed for 24th March 2015 without envisaging shift in Nigeria’s general election slated for 28th March 2015 and the security situation usually accompanying the period of general election.”

More so, Alhaji Debo stressed that the sensitivity of petrol product supply at that period gives the zonal council no alternative than to shift the election.

He further argued that the shift in election cannot afford the depot administration to be left in a vacuum hence the constitution of the caretaker committee which is constitutionally allowed.

He also said the Zonal Council’s action was also in view of suit no HOR/21/2014 of the 23rd day of October 2014 under the Lordship Hon Justice A. Adegoroye judgement of Ondo State High Court of Justice, Ore judicial division.

Members of the caretaker committee who took oath of office on Friday included Akinbiola Oluwatobi Nicholas (Chairman), Olatobosan Johnson (Vice Chairman), Adeeso Ebenezer (Secretary), Otunba Awe Olabisi (Treasurer), Erelu Modupe Johnson (Financial Secretary), Akinjare Jacob, (Auditor) and Adebola Abejide, (Assistant Secretary).
Others include, Falade Oluwasiji, P.R.O, Eruaga Jonathan, Legal Officer, Prince Akin Omoyele, Organising Secretary, Ogunsola Afolayan, Chief Whip and Yinka Iwakun, Welfare.

Alhaji Debo advised them that “You are all aware that Nigeria is just coming out of fuel scarcity situation and IPMAN will not allow further interruption in the supply chain.
In his acceptance speech, the Chairman, Caretaker Committee, Ore Depot, Akinbiola Oluwatobi Nicholas, thanked the IPMAN leadership for the trust bestowed upon him and his members.

He however stated that “before now, Ore Depot has been in shambles. We the new officers are ready to install peace in the depot. We discover that those in charge of affairs at the Ore Depot before now did not have any stake in the depot.

“They have no filling stations neither do they have any company nor these are the people that have been piloting the affairs of Ore Depot. Today, we thank the zonal officers that made it possible for us the real people that will not allow their assets destroyed in their presence.

“That’s the reason why I said we need to defend our interest. So we are going there to call on our people for discussion and meet the NNPC management so that we can work together and get products across the zone. We are going there to stabilize the depot and ensure peace.”
