Chieftains mount pressure on Ihedioha to dump PDP

Former governor of Imo State Emeka Ihedioha

Several Political chieftains in Imo State have called on the immediate past governor of the state, HE Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha to dump the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to save his political aspiration.

They opined that PDP in the state has lost citizens’ goodwill as well as the ideology to offer good governance and leadership direction to the people if given another opportunity to govern the state.

Speaking to newsmen in Owerri, on Thursday, some of the chieftains including Hon. Ezenna Okoro and Chief Jerry Uwakwe advised Ihedioha and other top political leaders in the state to join Labour Party, “in other to align their political vision and aspirations with Imolites’ desire for overall development and well-being.”

According to Ezenna, an astute grassroot political leader and a strong youth mobiliser in the state, “Imo citizens and south easterners are in dire need of people oriented leaders and visionary leadership which is the hallmark of the Labour Party.

“I say this because it is only in Labour Party now that actions and inactions of the leaders meet peoples’ expectations and current realities of the society.”

He said, “during my time as Director of Imo State Atiku Presidential Campaign in 2023, we were able to identify that the solution to Ndi Imo and Nigeria problems lies on a transparent and quality leadership.

“Today, the masses are crying for true patriots as leaders. Imolites as well as south easterners are in dire need of a transparent leader which His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha represents.

He continued, “For me, given the fact that Imo PDP has its glory, personality like Rt. Hon. Ihedioha should no longer remain in the party. And when you remember how PDP treated him in the event of the 2023 general elections, Ihedioha has every reason to dump the party long ago.”

“No doubt, Rt. Hon. Ihedioha genuinely loves PDP and has over the years committedly made sacrifices for the continous growth, development and sustainability of the party both at the state and the national level.

“But sentiments aside, it is high time he left PDP in other to achieve his aspiration for the general good of the people. And as a grassroot mobiliser and one who is in tune with the people’s wish and prayers, I will most humbly and candidly suggest that he joins the Labour offers which will offer him such opportunity.

Ezenna maintained that Labour Party offers a more credible leadership approach and solution to the myriad issues confronting Nigeria, adding, “in short, Labour Party is giving us true leadership and Abia state is a typical example.”

Also, commenting on the present governance under leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC at both the federal and state levels, the Isiala Mbano born business mogul said, “absence of ideological base has exposed the weaknesses and failure of APC as it has also made a caricature of the PDP.

“Also, Imo state under the present leadership of Senator Hope Uzodinma is trying but his effort can not be compared with the seven months governance of Rt. Hon Emeka Ihedioha that put smile on faces of the entire Imolites.

“However, we can only hope and pray God to give Governor Uzodimma the wisdom and strength to do more while we continually yearn for the return of Rt. Hon. Ihedioha to complete his good works for the state come 2027.”
