Two-term Senator and the wife of former governor of Niger State, Abdulkadir Kure, Zainab Kure has suffered a major defeat in the National Assembly election as her closest rival, Maj. Gen. Mohammed Garba (rtd) of the APC is in a clear lead with the results of five out of the eight local government areas so far released by the INEC.

INCUMBENT Senator representing Kogi West District, Smart Adeyemi of the PDP lost his bid to return to the National Assembly for the third term as Dino Melaye of the APC defeated him. Melaye polled 41, 120 votes to defeat Adeyemi who got 38,148 votes.

IN the results so far released, incumbent governor, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu of the PDP is on verge of being defeated in the Niger East Senatorial District election as his closest rival, Barrister David Umaru of the APC is in a clear lead, winning all the five Local Government Councils out of the nine in the zone, so far released.
