PENFON tasks youths on excellence, professionalism
THE founder, Professional Excellence Foundation of Nigeria (PENFON), Chief Dipo Bailey , has said that if unemployed youths equip themselves with professional qualification, their chances of getting good jobs will receive a boost.
He gave the advice during the induction ceremony for new inductees of the foundation in Lagos.
“If unemployed youths can get professional qualifications, they will be able to get jobs because institutions in many sectors of the economy are looking for people with professional certificates to employ,” he said.
He also said that if professionals are allowed to take leadership positions at different levels of government, they would be able to make better impact and the country will develop faster.
Bailey said the foundation was taking its awareness campaign on to youths in different groups and associations to let them see the reason why they should have professional qualifications.
Chairman, Skye Bank, Tunde Ayeni, who was also inducted into PENFON said as much as many youths are unemployed in the country, most of the unemployed youths are actually unemployable.
“The youths should dream without boundary, work purposely knowing that the future will be bright if they do the right thing at the right time, aspire for excellence, benchmark yourself with the best in the world, add humility and pray for God’s guidance,” he said.
While urging youths to take careers they are passionate about, he said there is employment for those who are well trained and have the right attitude.
He said it was important to engage the youths in the country because when the society fails to prepare a place for the youth, the youths end up turning the society up side down.
Prof. Sofie Oluwole, who was also inducted into PENFON said many youths go to school in Nigeria but many are not employed.
She stressed the need for artisans to be good at what they are doing, adding that could also become professionals in their fields.
