Ondo Assembly passes budget, shoves up estimates by with N1b

•Zamfara okays appropriation for 14 LGAs

Ondo State House of Assembly on Monday passed the 2017 appropriation bill sent into law, urging the Ministry, Department and Agencies (MDAs) to shove up the Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) for the state.

Meanwhile, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), had initially sent N169,720,580 billion but was jerked up to N170,846,580 naira with an increment of one billion, one hundred and twenty six thousand naira.

While presenting the report on the floor of the House, the Chairman, Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Mr. Sunday Olajide, said the increase in the budget was to make funds available to meet the pressing needs of some MDAs.

The Speaker, David Oleyeloogun, reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to immediately start oversight function once the Governor Akeredolu signs the budget.

Oleyeloogun, who lamented the effects of economic recession on developmental activities and all sectors of the state, urged the MDAs to intensify efforts at generating more revenue for the state.

Meanwhile, Zamfara State House of Assembly has passed 2017 Local Governments Council annual budget along with new budget lines for the well-being of the citizens particularly those living in the rural communities.

Chairman, State House Standing Committee on Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Dayyabu Adamu Rijiya, disclosed this today at the State quarterly food and nutrition committee meeting held at Save the Children International office, Gusau, Zamfara State, said the assembly has appropriated 2017 14 Local Governments Council budget after undergoing various budget defense by each local councils officials.
