NCDMB lauds local content development at LADOL’s multi-purpose facility
Citing capacity development, prospects for numerous jobs, strict enforcement of local content principles among others, the Acting Executive Secretary of Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Patrick Obah has commended promoters of the multi-purpose Lagos Deep Offshore Logistics Base (LADOL) maritime facility for the initiative.
Speaking at the end of a familiarization tour of the facility, Obah recalled that LADOL, which is a 100 percent indigenous firm, was developed as a green field about ten years ago, “but has grown into a world class logistics provider”.
He was accompanied during the tour by representatives of International Oil Companies (IOCs) on an inspection tour of the project site at LADOL base in Tarkwa Bay, Apapa, Lagos.
The team comprised representatives of IOCs such as Total, Chevron, Agip, Shell, Exxon Mobil, among others were received by the Executive Chairman of LADOL, Ladi Jadesimi.
Obah called on other oil companies to key into the step taken by Total to boost local content in the oil industry.
According to him, the Board was well aware that the LADOL base through the $3.8 billion Egina Floating Production Storage and Offtake (FPSO) oil platform FPSO project “is creating 5000 direct and 50,000 indirect jobs in the country.
