Microsoft claims Windows 10 run on 75 million devices

Microsoft-officeSOFTWARE and devices giant, Microsoft Corp. has said that over 75 million devices now run on its new operating system, Windows 10.

Besides, it disclosed that more than 90,000 unique Personal Computer (PC) or tablet models have upgraded to Windows 10.

Formerly launched on July 29, in Nairobi, Kenya, as free upgrade or with new PCs and tablets in about 190 countries including Nigeria, it added that more than 122 years of gameplay have streamed from Xbox One to Windows 10 devices.

Windows 10 has been designed to work not just on computers, but also tablets, smartphones and on Microsoft’s Xbox One console, running the same Universal Apps on all devices.

Corporate Vice President of Marketing for Windows and devices, Yusuf Mehdi, on its Twitter page on Wednesday, said more than 75 million devices now runs Windows 10 and is still growing every day.

Mehdi said even some devices manufactured in 2007 have upgraded to Windows 10. He said Windows Store for Windows 10 has seen six times more app downloads per device than Windows 8.

According to him, over 2,000 organisations are vying are to win the global partner slot in the #UpgradeYourWorld initiative.

Microsoft disclosed that Windows 10 comes with innovations such as Cortana, an Xbox app and Microsoft Edge for a familiar, yet more personal and productive, experience. It stressed that the new platform is the most secure Windows ever, which is delivered as a service and kept automatically up-to-date with innovations and security updates.

According to the firm, Windows 10 offers one experience that will become available on the broadest range of devices, including PCs, tablets, phones, Raspberry Pi, Xbox One, HoloLens and others.

However, there are other versions of Windows 10, which included the Windows 10 Home; Mobile; Pro; Enterprise; Education; IoT Core.
