Honeywell tasks youth on innovation, entrepreneurship
Honeywell Flour Mills Plc has intensified its efforts to develop youth skills and also promote their creative talents. According to the company, when youth are made to rediscover themselves, they will focus less on non-existing white collar jobs thereby imbibing the spirit of entrepreneurship which will make them self-dependent and further reduce poverty.
These were the assertion of the Managing Director, Honeywell Flour Mills Plc, Lanre Jaiyeola, on Tuesday at the Honeywell Wheat Meal Cooking Competition held at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Lagos State camp.
Jaiyeola said every individual has innate skills which when properly harnessed will push them beyond their limitations.Jaiyeola, who was represented by Innovation and Consumer Insight Manager, Lanre Da-Silva reiterated the company’s readiness to continue aligning with cause to promote entrepreneurship as exemplified in the quantum support given to the corps and other similar youth oriented activities.
He advised youth to embrace entrepreneurship, saying the modern day economy is driven largely by handworks demonstrated in small and medium scale enterprises.
The competition, according to him is aimed at bringing out the unique skills of the corps members with a view to equipping them for future challenges.
“It provides an opportunity to establish a first contact with tomorrow’s mothers especially who are the major decision makers in the family, to have affinity with the company’s various brands. For us, this is a very important touch point with the core decision makers, with the people who make purchase decision in the homes”, he said.
Lagos State NYSC Co-coordinator, Prince Momoh Mohammed, while commending Honeywell for the gesture, noted that “the event has created a platform for the corp members who are our future leaders to exhibit their creative capabilities and get adequately rewarded”.
