Motormasters has invited transport fleet managers for training on responsible auto fleet management. This is necessitated by the increasing cost of new vehicle acquisition coupled, with the challenges of getting tangible value from the maintenance of existing fleet, which is becoming a nightmare for many Organisations.

Oseme Oigiagbe spokesperson of Motormasters said: “As boundaries between Fleet Management, Finance and the HR functions continue to merge, companies are experiencing conflicts in objectives from different perspectives depending on who controls the fleet; a fleet run by a Finance person focuses on cost reduction, Fleet,/Logistics manager focuses on vehicle availability at any cost, while HR focuses on employee satisfaction. This programme has identified these widening operational gaps and, thus will be bringing together, Operations Directors, Senior Managers, Heads of HR function, Finance, Fleet Managers/Administrators, Procurement Managers, and Business Analysts/Process Manager.”

He said there is need for operators to gain deeper insight into the changing roles of fleet administration, and acquire new skills for designing workable Vehicle Maintenance Administration programme, and better understanding of Maintenance Contracts, negotiable variables with Suppliers, setting KPIs and selecting/evaluating vendor performance through Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Oigiagbe added that fleet owners need a deeper appreciation of the International standards on fair valuation of assets and how a better vehicle maintenance programme can change corporate life –cycle fleet policies. The programme holds on Thursday September 28, 2017 at Protea Hotel Ikeja
