Customs impounds 1,533 cartons of generators, poultry products

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) headquarters compliance team, Ogun State axis, has impounded 1,533 cartons of two stroke engine generators.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) headquarters compliance team, Ogun State axis, has impounded 1,533 cartons of two stroke engine generators.

A statement issued by the team explained that products were seized along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Similarly, the team in another operation along the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode Expressway, intercepted five hundred and forty two (542) cartons of foreign frozen poultry products.

According to the team leader, Assistant Comptroller Shittu Almaruf, the squad is saddled with the responsibility to enforce the fiscal policies of the Federal government with regards to trade, in conjunction with other anti-smuggling arms of the NCS.

On steps taken after the seizures were made, the team leader said: “The items were subjected to 100 per cent examination to ascertain the quantity of items seized, following which they were converted to seizure in line with sections 46 & 47 of the Customs Management Act, Cap 45 LFN”.
