Investors stake N27.8b on equities in one week

A turnover of 1.950 billion shares worth N27.836 billion was recorded in 19,337 deals by investors on the floor of the Exchange last week, in contrast to a total of 2.027 billion shares valued at N20.627 billion that changed hands in 23,436 deals during the preceding week.

  The financial services industry (measured by volume) led the activity chart with 1.521 billion shares valued at N13.760 billion traded in 10,967 deals; thus contributing 78.01per cent and 49.43per cent to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively.

  The consumer goods industry followed with a turnover of 177.396 million shares worth N10.822 billion in 3,622 deals.

  The third place was occupied by the conglomerates Industry with 171.830 million shares worth N549.426 million in 1,463 deals.

  Trading in the top three equities- FBN Holdings Plc, Access Bank Plc, and Guaranty Trust Bank Plc (measured by volume), accounted for 793.727 million shares worth N7.789 billion in 5,168 deals, contributing 40.70 per cent and 27.98 per cent to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively.

  Also traded during the week were a total of 112,499 units of Exchange Traded Products (ETPs) valued at N1.698 million executed in 36 deals compared with a total of 114,221 units valued at N2.074 million transacted last week in 28 deals

   There was no activity recorded in the debt board this week. However, a total of 133 units of FGN bonds valued at N138,632.44 were executed in 1 deal in the previous week.

  The NSE All-Share Index and market capitalization depreciated by 8.00per cent to close on Friday at 27,585.26 and N 9.204 trillion respectively.

  Similarly, all indices finished lower during the week with exception of the NSE Oil & Gas Index that rose by 0.38per cent, while NSE ASeM Index closed flat

11 equities appreciated in price during the week, lower than 42 equities in the preceding week. 53 equities depreciated in price, higher than 29 equities in the preceding week, while 132 equities remained unchanged higher than 125 equities recorded in the preceding week

  The N2 billion five-year 15.5 per cent Fixed Rate Secured Bonds Due 2019 issued by Fidson Healthcare Plc (Corporate Bond) was admitted to trade at the Exchange on  February 11, 2015.
