Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the country have been urged to leverage apprenticeship and training to upscale their businesses.

Entrepreneurs who spoke at the third Fate Foundation yearly alumni conference in Lagos, opined that start-up owners need to learn as apprentices before starting to grow and scale their businesses.

Founder, Cosharis Group, Cosmos Maduka, said start-ups must understand that enduring businesses are not products of chance, they are characterised by clear vision and growth strategies actualised through prepared, structured and efficient leadership.

Maduka, who also doubles as the guest speaker at the conference, urged start-ups to undergo apprenticeship programmes to gain practical knowledge to build their businesses.

“People will only invest in your business when they know where you are coming from and how you intend to scale up your business,” he added.

He noted that start-ups can do a lot with the little finance they have if they equip themselves with the right knowledge and practical skills by learning from people that are running the kind of business they intend to run

According to him, doing business requires capital and capital can be defined as a resource so one must learn how to utilize resource(s) for sustainable development.

But experience has shown that with dogged determination, unwavering commitment, and divine providence, a lofty dream can be achieved even in the face of daunting challenges.

“What is important is to learn the patience to go through the process to become rich and embrace the culture of hard work and engagement in legitimate business that demands determination to achieve success, understanding that enduring business is not a product of chance or unplanned leadership, they are characterized by a clear vision and growth strategies actualized through prepared and structured organization and efficient leadership.
