As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), African Circle Pollution Management Limited (ACPML) in conjunction with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has carried out the evacuation of wastes and the remediation of the impacted areas between Anjorin Market and the Main Gate of the Lagos Port Complex, Apapa.

A statement by the Regional Manager, West of African Circle, Mrs. Oyenike Shobowale said prior to the evacuation penultimate week, the access road along Anjorin Market and Lagos Ports Main Gate was turned to a waste dump by residents, food vendors and other stakeholders operating along that axis.

“This considerably defaced the aesthetic value of the surrounding environment as well as impacting negatively on public health,”

The statement said efforts by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) to persuade the Apapa Local Government Area who has the jurisdiction for the evacuation of the wastes proved abortive.

The statement added that NPA and ACPML had carried out a sensitization and public enlightenment on waste management practices and effect of indiscriminate disposal of wastes for stakeholders within the impacted area.
