Burna Boy’s ‘I Told Them… Tour’ Breaks Records In Canada

Nigerian ‘Afrofusion’ superstar Burna Boy has set a new record in Canada with his recent tour. He has become the most successful African artist to tour the country.

This information, revealed by Touring data, explained that Burna Boy earned an impressive $5.7 million from selling 69,219 tickets over six shows during his “I Told Them… Tour.” This achievement is the first of its kind to happen by a Nigerian artiste, adding to his already boisterous resume.

Furthermore, it shows the growing popularity of Afrobeat in the diaspora.

The “I Told Them… Tour” had Burna Boy performing across multiple Canadian cities, mesmerising audiences with his powerful live performances. Burna has a live band that accompanies him to every performance and joins him in touring the world.

Burna’s music is a blend of Afrobeat, reggae, and dancehall which are displayed during his live performances.

This historic achievement is not only a significant moment for Burna Boy but also for African music at large. It clearly shows the increasing global demand for African artistes and the potential of the Nigerian music industry.

His success in Canada is closely followed by numerous international accolades, including a Grammy win for Best Global Music Album.

In 2024 alone, he has had an impressive year career-wise. He performed a medley of his Grammy-nominated songs at the 2024 Grammy Awards.

In addition to his Grammy performance, he hopped on a recent remix of  Tshwala Bam. Released on Wednesday, 15 May, the track gained immense popularity and is currently No. 2 on the Nigerian Apple Music Top 10 Songs. He teamed up with South African artistes TitoM, Yuppe, and S.N.E to create the track.

Finally, as Burna Boy continues to shatter records and set new standards, he embodies the dreams and ambitions of many young African artists. His achievements truly represent the Nigerian dream.
