CONSIDERING the unending problem of transportation in Nigeria and in Lagos especially, BAJAJ- an India’s leading tricycle manufacturer has reintroduced its RE 4S tricycle with faster speed and stability into Nigerian markets.  

Speaking at BAJAJ RE 4S speed Competition over the weekend in Lagos, The BAJA Head of Marketing, Mr, Ahmad Firdous disclosed that the new BAJAJ Tricycle is faster in speed and stable than any other tricycle in Nigeria. 

He said that the speed competition among tricycle riders from 24 parks in Lagos organised by BAJAJ was geared towards showcasing the speed, durability and stability of the Bajaj RE 4S to its customers. 

According to him, participants were drawn from some tricycle parks in Ikotun, Igando, Oke-Afa, Isolo, Cele and other areas in Lagos.

 “Later in the year, Bajaj plans to organise competitions for technicians, fleet owners, and micro finance banks that loan money to buyers of the tricycles”.

Firdous further disclosed the intendment of his company to bring more products and introduce the newly built four- wheelers to Nigeria probably before the end of this year.

He further stated that his products RE 4S has more than 20 features, which have enhanced its efficiency on the road. 

He said “Bajaj Automobile Limited is the biggest tricycle manufacturer in the world. We produce about 60,000 monthly tricycles in India. We have the majority of the market share in the tricycle business. Our presence is in many of the countries and we are the biggest exporting automobile company from India.” 

Also speaking at the Competition that saw a young tricycle rider from Cano Park, Olorunwa Ogechuckwu as the overall winner is a representative of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) who charged riders to always be safety conscious. Asu advised riders to stop claiming right on the wheels; saying drivers, which claim right, are always victim of fatal accident. 

An elated Olorunwa thanked Bajaj profusely as he went to collect a new Bajaj RE 4S as star prize. The first runner up and the second runner up were given a BM 100 motorcycle each. 

When asked of the company’s contribution to the Nigerian economy, Firdous said that Bajaj trained over 1000 technicians in Nigeria last year. “There are more than three million people depending on the tricycle business either directly or indirectly ranging mechanics, riders, dealers, passengers among others,” he surmised.
