Nigerian Family Arts Exhibition, Young Nigerian Arts Competition Opens In Fresno

fulani-culture-CopyThe management of FGH Center for African Arts and Culture will celebrate the best of Nigerian people, arts and culture annually in Central California, U.S. The objective of the event, with the theme ‘Celebrating Change,’ is to give Nigerians in Central California a sense of pride about Nigerian Cultural Heritage while projecting the positive attributes and values of the Nigerian nation.

Scheduled to hold in the premises of Fagbule Glass House 1930 E. Shields Avenue, Fresno, from September 28 through October 4, according to the organisers, the maiden edition of the event will afford children and adults opportunity to identify with the arts, literature, folklores, food, music, dance and distinguished Nigerians in Central Valley.

As part of the vision to promote love for Nigerian arts among Nigerian families, the event will feature Nigerian Family Arts Competition, which will afford Nigerian family units to either showcase the Nigerian artworks, crafts and cultural items they possess or the visual arts skills that the family members possess. At the end of the competition, the first three Nigerian families adjudged to possess the best artworks would be honoured during the “Central California Distinguished Nigerians Awards Night” (DNA Night).

In addition to this, young Nigerians in 13 – 18 years age bracket living in Central California will also participate in the Young Nigerian Arts Competition during the Nigerian week. The first three young Nigerians adjudged to produce the best artwork would also be honoured.

The seven days event opens with a seminar with the theme ‘Nigeria on my Mind’ and day two with Nigerian folklore, while food fair will be centre of attraction on the third day. There will be variety night, DNA night with guest artist Bouqui. A thanksgiving service will being the week to a close.
