Lilian Afeghai debut movie, bound, hits the cinemas

Actress and former Big Brother Africa contestant, Lilian Afeghai, yesterday hit the cinemas nationwide with first self produced movie titled Bound, a blend of drama, romance and reality.The movie directed by Frank Rajah, talks about marital/relationship crisis, love, patience, tolerance and other important topics which are major factors that help in preventing marital/relationship crisis. The movie starred Nollywood diva Rita Dominic (Chinenye) and Enyinna Nwigwe (Elochukwu) in the lead roles, Prince Nwafor, Joyce Kalu, and Nicole Banna among others.

Bounds tells the story of a beautiful career woman, Chinenye (Rita Dominic), who suffers numerous scolding’s from her family and friends due to her inability to get married. Elochukwu (Enyinna Nwigwe), despite all of Chinenye’s indecisiveness and fear for commitment, remains in her life with a resolve to showing her unconditional love.Unknown to everyone, Chinenye has a life long secret, as she battles spiritual, emotional and physical forces, making her emotionally unfit to commit herself to anyone, no matter how hard she tries.

Guests at the premiere, which held at the Filmhouse IMAX Cinema Lekki, Lagos include celebrities like actress Uche Jumbo, Enyinna Nwigwe, Don Jazzy Mimi Onalaja, Nancy Isime, AY Makun, Annie Idibia, Adunni Ade, Ireti Doyle, Ini Dima–Okojie among others, who came out to support the producer, Lilian Afegbai.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the premiere, Afeghai said, “I feel so great and fulfilled producing my first movie before I turned 26. The story is actually a true life story, that I wanted to tell to the general public.

“A lot of people are going through this kind of thing, and don’t know how to handle it. I wanted to produced a movie that people will learn something from it. So, it is more of passing message to young people out there, and this whole parents forcing children to get marriage and not marriage,” she added.

According TV presenter, sometimes people deal with stuffs spiritually and don’t understand why they have not gotten married, adding that sometimes, it goes beyond what the ordinary eyes see physically.

“At times, you see people rushing into marriage and jumping out after one month because of the pressure from parents which sometimes pushes singles to end up with the wrong person. I feel we have lost our values, lost the real essence of marriage, and we need to re-evaluate ourselves. It is a movie for everybody to watch,” Afegbai stated.She urged parents to stop pressurizing their children to get marriage, but to allow them go into marriage at the right time to avoid creating divorce issues in the society.
