This December,1st and 2nd, the prolific Nigerian-American photographer and documentarian Chi Modu will exhibit his work for the first time in Lagos at Budweiser’s music platform BUDX – which is at the heart of shaping emerging music. The 2-day series will consist of masterclasses and workshops with key industry tastemakers.

Chi Modu is the powerhouse behind some of hip-hop’s most iconic images—and when we say iconic, we’re talking the Notorious B.I.G in a coogi sweater in front of the Twin Towers and 2Pac mid-smoke showing of the words “Thug Life” tattoo across his stomach. Modu captured hip-hop’s golden era like no other, shooting the likes of Nas, Mobb Deep, Mary J. Blige, LL Cool J amongst many others. He also shot over 30 covers for The Source as their Director of Photography.

BUDX Lagos will be curated by photographer, documentarian and writer Amarachi Nwosu’s budding new platform Melanin Unscripted. It will be the first time the artist’s photos will be on display on the continent.

Budweiser Brand Manager, Franscoe Bouwer, stated “The focus of BUDX is to unite both fans and artists in a collaborative and creative experience that celebrates the emerging electronic music culture. This initiative is a way to get closer to the music we love around the world”.

Bouwer adds “Budweiser is the King of Beers that inspires socialization and fun. BUDX was recently launched in Abuja.”

BUDX Lagos will feature photo exhibitions, workshops, panel talks and exciting live performances. The event will host a deep roll-call of special and legendary artistes, such as MI, Naeto C, Ill Bliss and new-gen artistes, such as Marz and Barzini, POE, Dremo, Dice Ailes, Ghanaian Kwesi Authur and a lineup of some of the hottest DJs such as Aye, Smallz, DJ Yin, DJ Wayne among others.
