Craig Mind Competition to revive reading culture

FasholaCraig Mind Reading Competition’s second edition has been scheduled to hold on June 25, 2015. The competition is limited to Ikeja and Agege Local Government Area Primary and Secondary Schools only.

Participants are expected to register for the competition under their school umbrella. Its rules demand that students read and summarise the books within their categories in 150 words and submit to their teachers on or before June 15.

The primary drivers for this project will be the schools and coordination spearheaded by the Literature teachers

In this edition, participants will read three books, featuring three Nigerian authors. The competition is divided into three categories: Primary 4 – Primary 6 (7-10 years), JSS1 – JSS3 (11 – 14 years) and SS1 – SS3 (15 – 19 years). The books to be read are The Brave Taxi Driver is for the first category, The Great Fall by Chinyere Obi for the second category while Okechukwu Ofilli’s How Intelligence Kills is for the third category.

The book reading competition project is one of Craig Mind’s educational programmes focused on improving the reading culture of young people through a reward scheme.

The judges include Okechukwu Ofilli, Chinyere Obi-Obasi, Chibundu Onuzo, Ambrose Adole, Bianca Onu and Daniel Okwa.

First prizewinner goes home with N30,000 cash, with N50,000 book voucher to equip his or her schools book library. The second prizewinner gets N20,000 cash, with N30,000 worth of books to equip his or her book library.

The third winner goes home with Best Man Games and N20,000 library project. All three teachers whose pupils win would be rewarded for work done.
