Behind The Wheels, which went controversial last year as a result of a fire stunt incident, was premiered last week at Silverbird Galleria.

Directed by Stanlee Ohikhuare, the movie exposes the struggle of tanker drivers on the road, such as meager or no pay, police and military brutality, bad roads and poor driving, which, though pose a danger to other road user, have become the daily fare of life. However, these tanker drivers are still expected to be in their best behaviour while transporting flammable substances.

Supported by Nigerian Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Petroleum Tanker Drivers Association (PTD), Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), the producer reportedly has his sights on being turning the movie into a television series in the near future after its cinema run.

While commenting on the action-packed movie, the Executive Producer Ugochukwu Azikiwe said: “We couldn’t cut cost because we had a vision and we knew we had to come up with something phenomenal. This is my first movie and a lot has gone into it. I dare say that the outcome is satisfactory. Being in the industry over the years has given me a better insight into what works and doesn’t.”

The movie features actors Patrick Doyle, Chiwetalu Agu, Kelechi Udegbe, Queen Nwokoye, Lucy Glover, Saeed Funny Mallam, Sani Danja, Ani Iyoho and others. Ani Iyoho, who played the dangerous stunt, was also on ground to clear the air and show that it was all stunt for the movie and that he went unscathed.
