EXECUTIVE General Manager, Total E&P Nigeria Ltd, Vincent Nnadi has advised staff of the company to acquire business skills that would enable them to succeed in post-service years, especially in view of recent volatility of global oil market.

TotalEXECUTIVE General Manager, Total E&P Nigeria Ltd, Vincent Nnadi has advised staff of the company to acquire business skills that would enable them to succeed in post-service years, especially in view of recent volatility of global oil market.

Nnadi gave the charge in Abuja during a two-day training organised by Total for staff on how to be productive outside paid employment in a sector that catered adequately for their welfare.

Total GM said the voluntary training is part of the company’s resolve to ensure that its staff is not taken unawares by the changing dynamics of the world oil market, which he noted had forced multinationals like Shell, Agip, and others to cut back on their stakes in Nigeria and elsewhere.

He explained that the only way staff of the company can make the oil company proud is to continue to make progress even after retirement or disengagement from the company.

The EGM stressed that the essence of contracting TONCIA Energy, an energy consulting firm, is to expose workers who are willing to take the future in their hands by learning business skills that would give them a place in today’s global market.

Manager, C&R/Education, Azu Azuike said the training would be ongoing, even as he explained that the cost would be borne by Total as a way of showing appreciation to the staff members for committing the greater part of their lives in working for the company.

He noted that a similar training had earlier been organized in Lagos for staff of Total, saying the voluntary turn out was indicative of readiness to expand their business horizon.

Coordinator of the training program, Prof. Godwin Chukwu, said by exposing its staff to such training, Total had set the pace for other employers to follow.

He said the training would raise consciousness in participants on how to become business leaders in the 21st century, adding further that there is a great difference between being an entrepreneur and being an employee.
