Wife of the Abia State governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu, has described the skills training and empowerment programme in the state as very rewarding and profitable.

She confirmed that most graduates of the training that were empowered with equipment and cash to enable them practice the skills they acquired, have been doing well while some have become employers of labour and trainers of others in their various skills.

She said this at Umunneochi Local Council head office at Nkwoagu Isuochi, while distributing empowerment tools and equipment to some graduates of the training sponsored by the state government.

Ikpeazu urged the beneficiaries to apply their skills and the equipment given to them to sustain themselves and improve their livelihoods.

Her words: “The skills training and empowerment programme, which has become profitable, enabled the graduates and beneficiaries to improve their well being, as well as create employment opportunities for others.”

She urged parents, especially mothers to advise their children properly about career choice indicating that the programme was being decentralised to the senatorial zones in collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs and support from Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.
