SEC to donate 50 e-readers to FCT schools
As part of efforts to boost investors’ education in Nigeria, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has promised to donate 50 e-Readers to Secondary Schools in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to make learning easier for students in the territory.
The e-reader is a digital library where all the texts of subjects approved for scholarly education will be loaded on an iPad or kindle for ease of learning by students.
Also, the commission is to partner the FCT Scholarship Board in supporting indigent students with scholarships to tertiary institutions to enable them to actualize their dreams of getting educated.
These declarations were made in Abuja when the Management of the Education Secretariat of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) visited the Director- General of the SEC, Alhaji Mounir Gwarzo to congratulate him on his recent appointment and also remind him of the promise by the immediate past Director General of SEC, Ms. Arunma Otteh on the E-Readers tablets.
While reaffirming and reassuring the FCT Scholarship Board of the commitment to the promise by the former DG, Mounir also said in addition to redeeming the E-Readers delivery, the Commission was also ready to assist the Board with Tertiary Education scholarship support for indigent students within the FCT to alleviate the burden of such parents.
The SEC boss said: “We want to assure you that our promise to assist you with 50 E-Readers tablets hasn’t change even with the change of management here. We remain committed to it. And soon before the next academic session begins, we should be able to deliver on the promise.
“In addition to that, we are ready to give you support in the area of scholarship up to university level particularly for indigent students in the territory. We want to collaborate with you because we believe you are competent stakeholders especially in the area of our investor’s education vision,” Gwarzo further explained.
