Ogwo-Agu, Kalu become MOUA’s registrar, bursar

Workers of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture (MOUA), Umudike Abia State went into open jubilation as one of its pioneer workers, Mrs. Jacinta Ogwo-Agu, was elevated to the position of Registrar/Secretary to Governing Council, 16 years after being in the employ of the institution. .

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Muhammadu Lawal Zayyana:  “ By the act of providence and guidance from records and extant rules, we were able to carefully set the stage for the meritorious emergence of Mrs Jacinta Ogwo-Agu”.

Also, the university’s pioneer Vice Chancellor, Prof Placid Njoku while delivering the university’s eight convocation lecture , expressed elation that Mrs Ogwo-Agu, one of the cradle workers had become the Registrar.

Disclosing how Mrs Ogwo-Agu  was employed by the university that take-off in Speaking while handing over to Mrs Ogwo-Agu, her predecessor, Dr. Azubuike Nwokocha described her as his worthy successor after years she was groomed, tried, tested and certified without reservation.

MOUAU is noted for its practice of recruiting its workers from within and outside its workforce. Out of its five Vice Chancellors, two were selected internally, and three externally including the incumbent, Professor Francis Otunta , a Professor of Mathematics …”.
Also elevated to the post of the University Bursar was Mr. Joseph O.  Kalu,  who has also been nick-named  “Mr Due Process “ by his colleagues.

The current two deputy Vice Chancellors; Professors Joy Nwabueze ( DVC Administration ), who is said to be Nigeria’s first female  professor of Statistics and Maduebibisi  Ofo  Iwe, a professor of Food Science and Technology ( DVC Academic) were chosen from within the University. 
Ogwo-Agu and Kalu, both holders of Masters degrees, are happily married. They have resumed duties in their new positions.
