There are indications that the immediate past Director General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Abubakar Mohammed may join the Katsina central senatorial zone race.

In a step that is seen as a boost for raising enabling laws that will increase the tempo of job creation initiatives in the upper legislative chamber, some indigenes of the senatorial zone in Abuja are rooting for the candidature of the former NDE chief.

Abubakar whose candidature was recently endorsed at the end of a contact meeting, which took place in Abuja, is also receiving massive support from most staff of the directorate.

Though Abubakar is yet to make his intentions known, a contact team was set up to woo him into contesting under the auspices of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Apart from the contact team that was set up, indigenes of the senatorial district also said plans have been concluded to begin mobilizing for the realization of the ambition in Katsina state.

Halilu Ishiaku, who is an indigene of the senatorial district, said the former NDE boss has attracted more projects to the state than any government officials in the history of the state.

He said: “We know how many projects he attracted to Katsina state during his time at NDE. Our children benefitted immensely from those skills acquisition centres and we will mobilise to ensure that he wins.”

Also speaking, Lawal Jibiya said Abubakar has the full support of the people because of his achievements.

He said, during his time at the NDE, Abubakar ensured youths from the state benefited immensely from various empowerment and skills acquisition programmes.

He said: “ I am sure everyone in Katsina knows his achievements while he was at NDE. He has proven his leadership qualities. We will support him and ensure he wins. We should not forget that the Emir of Katsina bestowed the title Shettima Hausa on him as a result of his numerous achievements while in office.”
