HR expert seeks personnel managers’ collaboration for effective practice
He said HR personnel are to constantly set goals and devise viable approach to achieving the goal through engagement and support of others for its attainment.
Johnson stated this during the 10th edition of Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), Special Human Resource Forum held in Lagos.
The guest speaker, John Mattone, who spoke on the theme, ‘Talent and intelligent leadership: a roadmap to unleashing greatness in your current and future leaders’, said for every human resource personnel to achieve intelligent leadership, critical and strategic thinking, decision-making, communication skills are all necessary to achieve the desired results.
According to him, “have a goal, but know that you cannot achieve the goal without the support, guidance and input of those around you. Consider them to be your critical stakeholders, ask for their suggestions and always thank them for their input.”
Earlier in his opening remark, the President and Chairman of Council of CIPM, Udom Inoyo restated the institute’s efforts on leveraging technology to ease participation and inclusiveness.
He said the delivery format of the programme further reiterated the need to embrace change and technology because the future of the Institute would leverage the world of all things digital and mobile, adding that the forum was organised to help participants raise their game and impact their businesses impeccably.
“We brought experts to examine business issues, instigate HR thought leadership inputs and share knowledge with practitioners and challenge long-held principles, ensuring participants are renewed when they return to work” he said.
