Honeywell, FRSC partner on safety awareness
AS part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives, Honeywell Flour Mills Plc has partnered the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the campaign to ensure accident-free Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Officials of both organisations, during the week, embarked on road safety campaign at notable motor parks where drivers were enlightened on safe driving culture especially on the need to drive safely into the new year.
Tagged “Operation Sanity: Drive Safely into 2016”, the initiative, according to Managing Director, Honeywell Flour Mills Plc, Lanre Jaiyeola, is to create awareness among road users especially in this festive season, to be very careful and mindful of other commuters on the road.
Jaiyeola, represented by Executive Director, Marketing, Benson Evbuomwan said “we as a company believe in people travelling in safety, in people being aware of the need to drive safely because If you look at it, somebody who is alive is the one that will buy and use our products, so we are interested in people’s safety around this period.”
He hinted on plans to take the safety campaign to schools, to begin sensitizing the students at the early stage.
“In those school programs, we also plan to include a little talk on road safety awareness so that we can help; the FRSC needs the organization to support them to create this awareness. Sometimes, people are not even aware of the dangers of some of the things that happen on the road, if we drive safely we reach our destination safely, the drivers will be alive, the passengers will be alive, the drivers and passengers are parents of children and we look after the whole family”, he said.
Speaking at Ojota motor park, Lagos where the road show kicked off, Unit Commander, FRSC, Ojota, and Assistant Corps Commandant Ganiyu Hamzat admonished the drivers to adhere to road traffic rules and regulations which include the need to avoid drinking while driving, using mobile phones, over speeding, wrong overtaking, and misuse of seat belt.
