Group holds conference on entrepreneurial skills

For African women to be competitive in today’s global environment, there is need for such women to be financially empowered having the political will to drive small businesses, Executive Director, African Hub International, Mrs Oluneye Oluwole, has said.

Mrs Oluwole revealed this while commemorating with other women across the globe to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) in Lagos.

She said the African woman of today has moved from the era of the man going to the farm while the woman is at home.
Besides, as part of efforts to celebrate IWD, the hub would be organizing its maiden conference for women entrepreneurs. With the theme, ‘The African woman in today’s global environment’, slated for Monday 12th March to Thursday 15, the conference is wakeup call to position women in the high place giving them opportunities to achieve entrepreneurial skills creating a viable economy.

“A woman of the 21st century requires the man and the woman to both work and that does not take away the roles and responsibilities of the family, which also put a lot of expectations on the woman to achieve that.”

African Hub International, is a multi-sector based hub positioned to grow, develop, and nurture startups and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in key sectors of Nigeria’s economy.

Mrs Oluwole said: “How can a woman in today’s global environment contribute to the economy? By being financially empowered, we are no longer in the era were it’s only the man that is earning and giving to the woman.

“Now the woman not only needs to care for her children and family but has to extend beyond the home to building the nation,” she said.
