A Non-Governmental Organisation, TY Danjuma Foundation in partnership with All Children Charity International Foundation (ACCIF) and friends has empowered 50 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Chibok through different skills acquisition schemes.

Speaking to journalists at the Internally Displaced Persons Camp (IDPs) Peji in the Kuje District of Abuja, Representative of TY Danjuma Foundation, Dare Ojo said, “the foundation believes in community development and the camp of the IDPs is one of the ways by which we can support the community particularly to help them get themselves integrated into the society and to equip them so that they can become self sufficient and be able to move on with their lives.”

Ojo added that, “we all understand the circumstances that have brought them from different parts of the country together to this place, stressing that as part of the foundation mandate as a philanthropic organisation, we support NGOs that takes care of these IDPs.

“It is an integral part of what we do in ensuring that this people are adequately trained and supported by the society and they can integrate themselves and be able to take care of their families because by so doing we are able to reduce crime in the society and also able to impact in the larger society at the end of the day.”

He added that the empowerment and equipment provided for them would help them be more economically sustainable and be able to support one another, adding that, “as more people comes in from places where we have incident of boko haram and the people who have undergone the training can support them and integrate them into the society”.

In his address, Barrister Charles Odenigbo said the major objective is to empower the vulnerable IDPs and empower them in such a way that by the time they leave there they would be productive on their own, stressing that, those who would be training them are also vulnerable persons trained by All Children Charity International Foundation (ACCIF).

His words: “The focus is to enable an IDP who feels disabled by virtue of what has happened to them to be able to be empowered to do something on their own and when they leave this place they feel like human beings without disability entirely.
