Firm announces judges for award

IndomieDufil Prima Foods Plc., Indomie Instant Noodles, have announced selected members of the panel of judges for the 2015 edition of its corporate social responsibility initiative – Indomie Independence Day Award for Heroes of Nigeria (IIDA).

The selected judges are; Socio-economic and political commentator, Japheth Omojuwa, Principal Grange School, G.R.A, Ikeja, Graham Stothard, Executive Director, Corona Schools Mrs. Olufunto Igun, Editor Vanguard Newspaper, Mideno Bayagbon, Publisher and Editor Genevieve Magazine, Mrs. Betty Irabor, MD heritage Homes, Mrs. Osuntokun and Deputy Provost- Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Jide Johnson.

This list was contained in a statement issued by the company’s public relations manager, Tope Ashiwaju, on progress of activities for the 2015 edition of the Indomie Heroes Award.

Ashiwaju acknowledged the credibility and integrity of the selected judges.

He said, “we are excited to have on-board these distinguished Nigerians with a track record of integrity in their various endeavours. The selected members of the panel are credible people with proven integrity who would do justice to the task of selecting the three winners for this year’s IIDA awards”.

The Judges are expected to sit to adjudicate and select the final three winners from the top stories already penciled down by the selection committee having met the set down criteria.

Besides, he disclosed further that, the verification team is already on the field to authenticate, validate and simulate ‘the selected stories, which will be used during the judges’ meeting for the selection of the first, second and third place winners.

The IIDA awards, which has been running for 8 years, extols the exemplary accomplishments of children who have shown courage and determination in situations that ordinarily would bring fear. Winners are rewarded with scholarship awards of N1m, 750, 000 and 500, 000 naira respectively.

It would be recalled that at this year’s media briefing to kick-off the 8 edition of the IIDA initiative, Managing Director, Dufil Prima Foods Plc. Deepak Singhal stated that the IIDA initiative is significant because it is rooted in the recognition of those whose best efforts are very often overlooked.

He said, “on a daily basis, our beloved Nigerian children perform thousands of heroic acts that save the lives and property of others at great personal risk to themselves. But the reality is that such acts of bravery often go unsung because the players involved are minors”.
“Hence, our belief that they need to be identified and celebrated publicly in other to encourage and inspire more selfless acts in these children, who would tomorrow hold various leadership positions in the country”.
