Experts in Communication Technologies, Chief Executive Officer of Xavier Communications Ltd, Nick Hayes and the Managing Director of AXPD Resources Ltd, Segun Adefope, have said unless the Federal Government explored other areas of the nation’s economy it would retard the economic progress.

According to them “It is imperative to empower Nigerians especially the young one through communication and technology to ensure economic development in the country,”

They agreed that the only way for Nigeria to escape imminent economic collapse is to diversify its economy as over dependence on oil speaks doom to the country.

The duo, while briefing newsmen on the forthcoming Technological Expos billed for October tagged; ‘The Present and Future of Technology in Nigeria; Prospects and other Matters Arising’ in Abuja, said the future prospect of the country and its people lies in technology.

Adefope said there is possibility that the Nigeria’s crude oil could be abandoned by the international buyers going by the Iran’s oil, which is very close to India, the largest buyer of Nigeria’s oil.

“At a time like this, the country needs to diversify; the only way to help Nigerians is to create a conducive environment for business to grow. Technology is the future and that is what we want to sell,” he said.

In his remarks, Hayes explained that the expo was designed, “to provide vital leads on the latest advances in technology as well as point out what it holds, particularly in the area of job creation for Nigerian youths.

“To engender a great opportunity for visitors to the expo especially targeted youths, to tap into the huge job opportunities the sector has the capacity to provide.
