In an effort to tackle the spate of unemployment in the country, the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) has concluded plans to host a career and entrepreneurship fair.

According to the institute, the fair is aimed at promoting entrepreneurship by providing a platform for potential entrepreneurs and job seekers to access information, opportunities and resources to start small businesses, become self-employed and create jobs.

The event, which is slated for Thursday, April 7, with the theme:

“Owning your future” is geared towards equipping participants with the skills and tools for youth employment and empowerment required to serve as change agents.

In a statement made available to The Guardian, President and Chairman of Council, Anthony Arabome, said this year’s fair would provide a veritable platform to assist the government and stakeholders in addressing the unending menace by making available a rare and rich opportunity for undergraduates, fresh graduates, Corp members, the unemployed and potential entrepreneurs to access first-hand information on job creation strategies.

He said the fair would help the unemployed become more employable, providing business exposure, creating awareness for the entrepreneurship opportunities in the various sectors of the economy and ensures that talents and skills are matched with available openings for the needed productivity towards achieving sustainable national development.
