The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), has intensified efforts to train Lagos State Government workers on International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) implementation.

The move is on the need for workers in the state treasury office to improve and acquire formal recognition on their skills.Using the New Synergy specialists (TNSS) model, the skill is designed for professionals to enhance interaction, support and flexibility of the IPSAS programme. The model promotes blended learning and a practical approach to IPSAS implementation, using relevant case studies and scenarios.

The ACCA Nigeria team led by the Business Development Manager, Aderonke Adebule, proposed the tailored solution in partnership with the strategic partner.During the presentation of certificates to the eleven participants, after a three-day training, the head of ACCA, Nigeria, Tom Isibor, commended the state for the co-operation shown during the programme. He sought for further collaboration between the State’s Accountant General’s Office and the Accountant General of the Nation’s office on areas like capturing Legacy Assets and other solutions, which ACCA can provide support.

The Accountant General of the state, Abimbola Umar, who congratulated the new IPSAS-certified staff members, also commended the facilitators and ACCA Nigeria for the positive in-roads consistently made in the nation’s public sector.
