Amawbia Community in Awka South Council of Anambra State has called on Governor Chukwuma Soludo and security agencies to intervene in the lingering leadership crisis rocking the town to forestall looming break down of law and order in the town.
Chief Custodian Authority of Amawbia Tradition and Customs, Chief Dan Maduka, made the appeal in a media briefing, yesterday, at Amawbia, lamenting that the power tussle between President General (PG) of the community, Godwin Aronu, and Regent to the Royal Crown, Emeka Maduka, could lead to death of people and destruction of property.
Aronu had severally alleged that Maduka had engaged on what he termed unwarranted interference in running of the town union, thereby causing animosity in the community.
But Maduka, on his part, had accused Aronu of being the architect of his problems, insisting that his (Aronus’) activities had brought problems to the community.
Addressing journalists, yesterday, Maduka described the embattled Regent as an imposter, saying he had seized to be both an Ozo title holder and Nze Ngene of the village.
He said, contrary to claims that Aronu was removed by the Okpaligwe-in-Council as the town union’s PG, it was Maduka, who was stripped of his dual titles with sanction of N11 million by the Ofodile-led review committee.
He said he had already petitioned the governor, the police and Department of State Services (DSS) over the matter, following Maduka’s refusal to honour several invitations sent to him by his cabinet.
