Why I was absent, by governor
The eight-day prayer for the late former Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, was held, yesterday, in Owo.

The prayer was held at the residence of the late governor in Owo, his hometown and was attended by his family, associates, political followers, and people of Owo.

Akeredolu’s family was represented by the younger sister of the late governor, Toyin Akeredolu.

Also, the former governor’s wife, Betty Akeredolu and the children were present at the programme.

However, the Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, was absent at the event and neither was the state government represented at the event.

At the prayer service, prayers were offered for the families and followers of the late Akeredolu as well as the state and Owo town.

The service was led by Rev. Canon S.B Oladimeji.

Meanwhile, the spokesman to Aiyedatiwa, Adeniyan Ebenezer, said the event had nothing to do with the governor or the government.

Ebenezer said the organisers did not notify or invite anybody in government.

He said: “This was an event organised by a group of followers of the late governor and even only a handful of his appointees were there.”
