Aiyedatiwa urges Nigerians to pray for peace, development

• Cleric laments economic hardship, insecurity, says Tinubu has failed
• Urges President to seek guidance from experienced leaders

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has urged Nigerians to always pray for peace and development of the country, saying that anywhere there is peace, there will be development.

He spoke during the Diamond Jubilee celebration of Motailatu Church of God (MCG), Ondo Town, Ondo State, held at St. Adekahunsi Cathedral, Oke-Iwosan.

Aiyedatiwa, who was represented by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, praised the support his administration had received from the church and the people of Ondo township in general.

The governor also lauded the church’s founder, Isaiah M. Akinadewo (Omo Jesu), describing him as a true man of God whose work has left a lasting impact since the church’s founding in 1964.

He, however, congratulated the church members on their 60-year celebration and urged them to continue praying for peace and harmony in Ondo State and Nigeria in general.

Aiyedatiwa, therefore, requested continued support from the church for his administration, especially as the gubernatorial election approached.

Earlier, in his sermon, Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of the church, Senior Superintendent Gabriel F. Akinadewo (Omo Jesu II), urged people of the country to continue looking up to God to assist Nigeria.

He stressed the need for Christians to embark on spiritual warfare and prayers.

Akinadewo, who lamented the economic hardship and insecurity pervading the country, said President Bola Tinubu had failed in his campaign promises to Nigerians.

The cleric expressed worry over the heightened astronomical rise of the country’s inflation rate, saying that livelihood has become unbearable for Nigerians.

He advised the Federal Government to do the right thing to stem insecurity in the country, urging Tinubu to seek guidance from experienced leaders to move the country forward.

The cleric also advised the President to enlarge his economic team to accommodate those in the private sector who understand the economy.”

He said: “This is not right for the psyche of an average Nigerian. Once you arrest a terrorist or bandit, the trial should not last more than two or three months. That is what Nigerians want.

“A few days ago, we sent our soldiers to Sierra Leone to maintain peace. Why can’t we do the same in Nigeria? In anything you want to do, intelligent gathering is the key. It is not about going about with rifles. Once we have effective intelligence gathering, these bandits, I don’t think they are more than 20,000 or 30,000 people.

“How come terrorists are all over the place? They kidnapped another Catholic pastor in Kaduna last week, but he was rescued after paying a ransom.”
