The Ogun State Government has warned its residents about a misleading message circulating online on the offer of N10,000 in cash palliatives per person from Governor Dapo Abiodun.
The message reportedly appeared on various social media platforms, prompting individuals to apply for the proposed cash palliative through a provided link.
Abiodun’s spokesperson, Kayode Akinmade, in a statement, said the message is an “obvious scam”, urging the public to refrain from it.
“The Ogun State Government is not involved in any form of cash transfer programme through the link provided in the scam message as https://taskcashup.com/get/OGUN-st-relief-funds/Apply/ogun-reg-portal,” Akinmade said.
He stated that the government identified the link as fraudulent and unauthorised, noting the risks of clicking it, and cautioned that the link could be used to steal personal information.
Akinmade noted that authentic information regarding government intervention programmes and initiatives is disseminated only through official channels, including government websites, press releases, and official social media handles.
He advised the public to be cautious and avoid sharing such fraudulent messages, emphasising that any information not originating from official sources should be regarded with suspicion.
The state government reiterated its commitment to improving the lives of the state’s residents during challenging times.
