2024: There’s plenty to look forward to

It’s yet another Leap Year. But it’s not just that extra day in February that makes this year worth looking forward to. There’s plenty and here are just a few.

In just over a month away in far away Riyadh, in Saudi Arabia, Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk and Britain’s Tyson Fury, will finally do battle to know the undisputed heavyweight boxing champion of the world.

Mark February 17th in your calendar for this winner takes all and fifty-fifty odds on contest between two undefeated prospective boxing Hall of Famers.
Can Anthony Joshua even find a way back and become a three-time heavyweight champion ? We should have an idea before the year runs out as well.

But boxing doesn’t hold o all the aces and that’s not all there is to look forward to. It’s the Olympics year as well and all eyes will do doubt be on Paris 2024, where the best athletes on earth will be competing during the summer. Will world record sprints hurdler, Tobi Amusan, add the Olympic title to her collection? You wouldn’t bet against a world record holder in her prime .

On the political scene, it’s almost certain that the United Kingdom will have a general election in May. Looks like a two-horse race between a former prosecutor and the right honourable Rishi Sunak.

Move over to the other side of the Atlantic in the last quarter of the year and the race to the White House will be fully on. As of now, you can’t bet on who Joe Biden’s successor might be, just as nobody knows whether Sunak will retain the occupancy at Number 10.

The race is equally on at our backyard in Ondo and Edo states as the Governorship pretenders and contenders start showing their hands . Who will succeed Godwin Obaseki and Lucky Ayedatiwa?
