‘16,920 candidates wrote UNILORIN post-UTME’

University of Ilorin (UNILORIN)

About 16,920 of the 18,098 admission-seekers that registered for the 2023/2024 post-UTME test of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) presented themselves for the exercise between February 19 and 23, 2024.

The weekly bulletin of the institution stated that the screening, which was entirely computer-based, took place in the campus between 8.00am and 5.00pm daily.

Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) of the institution, Prof Abayomi Omotesho, said there was no recorded incident of examination malpractice or impersonation.

Omotesho commended the candidates for abiding by the rules throughout the exercise.

He explained that the test was officially completed last Thursday, adding that Friday was used for mop-up, to accommodate candidates who were unavoidably unable to sit for the test on the previously scheduled dates.

On the prompt daily release of results to candidates, Omotesho attributed it to the vision of the Vice Chancellor, Prof Wahab Olasupo Egbewole (SAN) to ensure that the university continues to conform with global best practices.

He assured that the university would post admission status information on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) once the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) opens CAPS for the process.

Emphasising that any admission conducted outside CAPS remains illegal, he warned candidates to beware of scammers by ensuring that they only use the university’s official platforms for information and communication.

Director of the Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre, Prof Kamilu Rauf, expressed satisfaction that no technical glitch was recorded throughout the examination period.

Rauf thanked the university management for the support offered towards a successful conduct of the examination.

The professor of Mathematics also commended the management for ensuring strict compliance with examination guidelines at the CBT Centre by staff and students.

He assured that the Centre is adequately prepared for the 2024 UTME.
